Jan. 21, 2011 — An Interview with Honey Cocaine
About two months ago, I discovered the wonderful Honey Cocaine. She’s a rapper from Toronto who recently signed with Tyga’s Last King’s label. She was the first artist he signed. After I realized she’s Canadian, I pitched the idea to profile her to the editors over at CanCulture and spent the next two months trying to get a hold of her. Finally, on Thursday afternoon, we spoke on the phone about Tyga, how she got started, women in hip-hop, race in hip-hop and how the Internet helped her take off.
